myr superion casting question

Asked by veritas723 7 years ago

can Myr Superion be cast from hand, without creature generated mana. if for some reason a creature could be cast for zero mana?

say.. Animar, Soul of Elements with 2 counters on it? can i just drop Myr Superion for free? or do i still have to generate mana from creatures?

can you "generate" zero mana from a creature? or basically is there no way to cast myr superion without having mana generating creatures?

You're overthinking this. Myr Superion normally costs mana symbol 2 - if you reduce the cost by at least mana symbol 2, you don't have to pay any mana to cast it anymore.

So yes, Animar with 2 counters on it will allow you to play Myr Superion for mana symbol 0.

Wizards is very precise about wording on cards (at least the oracle wording. Some old cards are templated poorly). You can only spend mana generated by creatures to cast Myr Superion. If it cost mana symbol 0 you don't have to worry about it since you don't have to pay mana for it. If Trinisphere is out you have to generate 3 mana from creatures to cast Myr Superion.
