Merfolk Trickster and gained abilities

If I flash in a Merfolk Trickster and target a creature (let's say Llanowar Elves), it gets tapped and loses all of it's abilities until end of turn because of the ETB trigger. Sometime during the turn after the ability resolves, opponent casts Blossoming Defense targeting the Elf. Does it gain Hexproof? Or does it not get it because Merfolk Trickster's ability says "loses all abilities until end of turn"?

the elf could also be tapped for mana in response to being targeted.

it has hexproof because it gained it after it lost its abilities.
