Mairsil + Dominating Licid + Tree of Perdition

I have Mairsil, the Pretender with Dominating Licid and Tree of Perdition caged. Can I one shot people by turning him into an aura, untapping and then using Tree's ability?

That would be cool, but sadly no! Not having toughness is different from having 0 toughness. The ability would essentially "fizzle."

Also, don't forget that Dominating Licid won't let Mairsil gain control of a creature since the licid gained errata. It now says "you control enchanted creature" as a static ability outside of the activated ability, like the Theros cards with Bestow. You can see what it reads like now here.
