Lim-dul reanimating other commanders

Asked by pedroedmarcos 5 years ago

Hey there,

So, my brother has a Lim-Dul the Necromancer EDH deck, and at some point of the game he casted a "Destroy target creature" in other player commander. And he choose to let it die (He forgot about Lim-dul), and doing so triggered Lim-dul, and my brother decided to reanimate the other player commander with Lim-dul's ability.

At this point came the question: Once was taught to me that you can move your commander to the command zone instead of sending him to other zones, like graveyard, exile, your hand, the deck. Any region BUT the battlefield. If that' accurate that means that Lim dul can reanimate commanders and players cannot send them back to the command zone instead of the battlefield on lim-dul's controller control?

Yes, Lim-Dul the Necromancer can do that if the player actually lets the commander go to the graveyard. The rule that lets you redirect the commander to the command zone only works if it's about to move to the library, hand, graveyard, or exile.
