Knight exemplar and wipes

lets say i got 3 Student of Warfare on the board and a Knight Exemplar . buddy uses Day of Judgement?!?!?!! . i know my knight exemplar will bite the dust, however i believe that my students will stay alive due to the indestructibility the exemplar granted them. my buddy thinks they will die because he killed the source giving them indestructibility. I'm right? right?

8/15/2010: If an effect would simultaneously destroy Knight Exemplar and another Knight creature you control, only Knight Exemplar is destroyed.

Day of Judgment . Everyone gets that one wrong.
You are indeed correct. The destruction event only happens once. When it's happening, your Students are indestructible, and the Exemplar is not, so only the Exemplar gets destroyed. Spell effects don't happen retroactively.
