Killing Banisher Priest in response to it's ability

Asked by Renaud 9 years ago

Opponent summons Banisher Priest , it resolves.

He put his ability on the stack targeting one of my creature.

In response I Doom Blade the Banisher Priest .

Will my creature be exiled then come back right away (losing all it's counters & aura), or will it stay on the battlefield?

The duration of the ability will end before the creature is ever exiled. It won't go anywhere.

This is in the gatherer rulings for the card as well.

01/07/2013 If Banisher Priest leaves the battlefield before its enters-the-battlefield ability resolves, the target creature wont be exiled.

This is different from similar cards such as Fiend Hunter and Oblivion Ring which, if the card is removed from play before the ETB ability resolves will actually exile the creature forever.
