Karmic Guide recursion

Asked by Enyeto 9 years ago

I play Karmic Guide then enchant with Gift of Immortality . During my next upkeep, if I choose not to pay the echo cost, would Gift of Immortality recur Karmic Guide to the field; and then re-enchant it at the beginning of end step?

Yes.

Yes it will work exactly like that. Also, next turn, you will be asked to pay the Echo cost again. This way, you can recycle Karmic Guide every turn.

You would sacrifice Karmic Guide and it would come back as per Gift of Immortality 's triggered ability but it would be subject to "summoning sickness," due to it entering the battlefield that turn. The only way to actually attack w/ it is to give it haste or bite the bullet and pay the echo cost.

It would be a cycle of sacrificing and returning a creature that you won't be able to attack with, so I'm not entirely sure why you'd want to go that route.

@billpasdmf: Probably because of Karmic Guide 's ETB ability. In this situation, it will bring back an extra creature from the graveyard every turn.

@Absinthman Exactly. I could use cards in the deck that dump to graveyard and be able to effectively recur. I'm happy that this can recur a creature each of my upkeep phases.
