Is this infinite loop possible? (Reveillark + Saffi + Fiend Hunter + Sacrifice + ETB creature)

Asked by AiKi58 5 years ago

Ok, lets say i have Reveillark, Reclamation Sage, Altar of Dementia on the battlefield and Saffi Eriksdotter in graveyard. I cast Fiend Hunter after sacrificing Reclamation Sage to Altar of Dementia. I exile Reveillark getting me back Reclamation Sage and Saffi Eriksdotter. Then I sacrifice Reclamation Sage and Saffi Eriksdotter targeting Fiend Hunter, then sacrifice Fiend Hunter, so Reveillark enters the battlefield again and is ready to be targeted by Fiend Hunter wich enters the battlefield again due to being targeted by Saffi?

So let me get this straight.

  1. Saffi Eriksdotter in graveyard. Sac Reclamation Sage to Altar of Dementia, milling opponent. Two in the graveyard.

  2. Cast Fiend Hunter. Reveillark exiled, which returns Saffi and Reclamation Sage to the battlefield.

  3. Sac Reclamation Sage to the Altar, milling opponent. Sac Saffi using her ability, so that Fiend Hunter will come back if it goes to the graveyard. Two in the graveyard again.

  4. Sac Fiend Hunter to the Altar, milling opponent. Two triggers (Fiend Hunter and Saffi) go on the stack, returning Reveillark and Fiend Hunter to the battlefield. Presumably you order them so Reveillark is on the battlefield when Fiend Hunter triggers.

  5. Fiend Hunter exiles Reveillark, returning Saffi and Reclamation Sage to the field. Go to step 3.

Yep, sounds like a loop.

Sure, or you could cut out the fiend hunter and just:

  1. Sac Saffi Eriksdottertargeting Reveillark
  2. Sac Reclamation Sage to alter
  3. Sac Reveillark to alter.
  4. Return all three to the battlefield. (Lark to Saffi and the other two to Lark's LTB)

Oh oops, I missed that Saffi was in the bin. Still think that leaving fiend hunter out after the cast for the exile would be a good idea since there are ways to permanently exile lark with Fiend Hunter that are better to not take the risk.

Yes the loop works as intended. You place the Saffi's delayed ability on FH, sacrifice it triggering both his trigger and Saffi's. You control both triggers and order them in the order you want (eg. FH first, returning Reveillark, which in turn returns Saffi and RS, then Saffi's trigger gets back FH, you exile Reveillark, sac Saffi, FH rinse repeat.

I don't quite understand why you need Fiend Hunter though...maybe just because Saffi Eriksdotter was discarded or killed beforehand. If that is the case you don't need FH once you have both Saffi Eriksdotter and Reveillark which can combo on their own.
