Is there a time when you can activate abilities or cast spells before a creature with 0 or less toughness dies?

Say you have Tree of Redemption in play and you cast Tragic Slip on it with morbid, thus its toughness goes to 0.Can you use trees ability before it goes to the graveyard and lose the game?

The last chance you can do so is before the Tragic Slip would resolve.

A creature going to the graveyard due to having 0 or less toughness happens when State-Based Actions are checked, which happens every time a player receives priority, so by the time the Tragic Slip resolves and the Tree of Redemption has 0 toughness, it'll be in the graveyard by the time you have a chance to do anything.
