Is Palladia-Mors REALLY That Bad?

Asked by QuilavaUchiha 5 years ago

Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner has hexproof if she hasn't dealt damage, but is that any damage at all or damage to players? If somebody attacks me and I decide to block with Palladia-Mors, the Ruiner, does she lose hexproof from that interaction? Or if Dragon Tempest triggers and I chose a creature as a target, does she still lose hexproof? In that case, what's the point in even using her, since she can't do ANYTHING without losing hexproof?

Because the ability doesn't specify any particular kind of damage, it means any damage for any reason.

The advantage of the ability is that you actually get to use Palladia-Mors without an opponent just up and killing it. Lots of big creatures have the "dies to Doom Blade problem", where you spend all the mana to put them on the battlefield and then someone shoots it with a kill spell before you get to do anything with it. Palladia-Mors' ability avoids that issue for the most part (non-targeted removal can still kill it, of course).

the point in using her is that she's almost guaranteed to deal some damage before dying. even after losing hexproof, she's still a 6/6 for 6 mana with 3 keywords.

Yeah, 6/6 for 6 with three keywords is not nothing.

Thanks a ton! I guess when it comes to big creatures like her, any evasion at all is good, and she can pretty much guarantee damage, so that's a plus.
