Invoke Prejudice clarification.

Asked by IrishMidgetMan 6 years ago

Invoke Prejudice specifically says X is the casting cost. So if a creature costing is played, would they have to spend an additional or an additional ?

They have to pay an additional . symbols are always paid with generic mana.

Zaueski, that's slightly misleading due to the fact that is not always paid with only generic mana. Any type of mana can be used on it. This confusion is probably due to the outdated text on the card itself.

Invoke Prejudice has received errata, updating its text in its Oracle. It now reads:

Whenever an opponent casts a creature spell that doesn't share a color with a creature you control, counter that spell unless that player pays , where X is its converted mana cost.

Note I said Generic mana () and not colorless mana (). I assumed he knew the difference and if not I apologize.

Generic Mana () has always been payable with any form of mana.

How would this work with Jodah?

PyrodemontedIf Jodahs ability is used to cast a creature spell while Invoke Prejudice is in play, the Jodah player will have to pay the CMC of the creature card

So if say, you use Jodah's ability to cast a creature spell that has a cost of for random example, and an opponents Invoke Prejudice triggers, you would have to pay the for Jodahs ability plus an additional

Any alternate way of casting the creature, whether it be Dream Halls , Maelstrom Wanderer , Omniscience , etc will still require you to pay the CMC of said creature because it’s still being Cast.
