Interactions when populating Voja, Friend to Elves.

Asked by kryophyre 4 years ago

I'm not totally sure what I can get away with if I were to play Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves and then populate the Voja token he creates. I know I can't keep both Vojas around, but is it possible to get Tolsimir's "Life and Fight" triggers on the copy of Voja and then remove the copy to the legend rule?

Ex. Tolsimir, Friend to Wolves is in play with Voja, Friend to Elves.

I populate targeting Voja.

The copy enters.-

-Can I gain 3 life, and make it fight God-Eternal Oketra , which kills the copied Voja and lets me keep the original one?

-Or do I have to remove the old Voja before the Tolsimir triggers can start for the new Voja?

The legend rule is a stat-based action and will be performed before Tolsmir's ability resolves. You will have to put one of the Vojas in the graveyard before the trigger resolves. If you put the copy in the graveyard you will gain three life and no damage will be dealt in the fight. If you keep the copy, you will gain three life and the fight will happen as normal.

Aaand I didn't completely proofread and can't edit.

The first sentence should say "... state-based action ..." Since stat-based actions are not a thing.
