Interaction between Nantuko Husk and Humble Defector

Asked by randomthing 8 years ago

Can I tap Humble Defector for his ability, sacrifice him with Nantuko Husk's ability in response, draw two cards, and send Humble Defector to the graveyard and give Nantuko Husk +2/+2?

Short Answer: Yes.

Long Answer: First you activate Humble Defector's ability targeting your opponent so you can draw 2 cards. Then you activate Nantuko Husk's ability, sacrificing the Defector. The abilities will then resolve giving the Husk +2/+2, and you draw 2 cards while giving your opponent a Humble Defector that isn't there anymore.

Could anyone explain in terms using the official rules how this play functions? Its a big part of my new deck and I need to understand it.

1): Tap: Humble Defector => ability goes to the stack.2): before Humble ability resolves sacrifice it to Nantuko Husk => goes to the stack.3): Resolve the abilities in the stack, up to down, soStackA) Nantuko Husk ability resoloves => +2/+2 to itselfB) Humble Defector ability resoloves => you draw 2 cardsBecause you sacrifice the Deflector it can go to your oponent control, and thats it.

OK thanks. Still pretty new I had misunderstood how priority works. I had thought it passed after each new addition to the stack, rather than returning to the active player.

It does, i assume your oponent do nothing, after you play Defector ability your opp gain priority so he can cast spells or abilities, then you gain priority again and that over and over, when you both give priority and do nothing then the stack start to resolve following the up-down order.
