Inspired abilities and stack order

Asked by SkyCake 9 years ago

In this case I'm interested in the interaction between Siren of the Silent Song and Master of the Feast. When Siren untaps and her ability triggers, as far as I understand, abilities that trigger on the "untap step" go onto the stack during your upkeep. My question is as the Master's ability triggers on upkeep would I not be able to order his draw ability to resolve before the Siren's discard ability?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can stack the triggers in this situation so Master makes them draw and then Siren makes them discard.

Actually, the Siren of the Silent Song's ability would have to go off first, during your turns. The steps, in order, are Untap, Upkeep, Draw. This means that during untap, your siren would become untapped, and it's ability would trigger. Once that resolves, you move into the beginning of upkeep, where Master of the Feast's ability would trigger. THEN you draw.

That is incorrect Seraphicate. We have to look at multiple rules to figure out that something that triggers during the untap step and something that triggers at the beginning of upkeep can be stacked in any order. The relevant rules are-

116.3a The active player receives priority at the beginning of most steps and phases, after any turn-based actions (such as drawing a card during the draw step; see rule 703) have been dealt with and abilities that trigger at the beginning of that phase or step have been put on the stack. No player receives priority during the untap step.

603.3. Once an ability has triggered, its controller puts it on the stack as an object thats not a card the next time a player would receive priority.

603.3b If multiple abilities have triggered since the last time a player received priority, each player, in APNAP order, puts triggered abilities he or she controls on the stack in any order he or she chooses
