Ineraction of Titanias song with Artifacts

Asked by SolomonsEfreet 6 years ago

I have Titanias song in play which makes all creatures on opposing teams creatures. I also have Grip of desolation and Necroskitter. Am I correct in my belief Grip of desolation will exile any given artifact since it now a creature and that if one of those artifacts goes to graveyard with a -1/-1 I can steal it as my own even though in the GY it now a Artifact?

Please link all cards in your question.
Titania's Song
Grip of Desolation
Necroskitter

Yes and yes.

Grip of Desolation can target any creature or land. Because Titania's Song turns all noncreature artifacts into creatures, it makes them all legal targets for Grip of Desolation.

Necroskitter's ability triggers when a creature an opponent controls with a -1/-1 counter on it dies. As above, Titania's Song is turning all noncreature artifacts into creatures. If one of those creatures dies under your opponent's control, Necroskitter's ability will trigger. Because the ability returns the card to the battlefield under your control without checking its type (the type only matters to determine whether the ability triggers), you can return noncreature cards to the battlefield as long as they were creatures when they died.

A couple clarifications: Titania's Song turns all noncreature artifacts into creatures, not just the ones on the opposing team. Also, if you exile a creature with Grip of Desolation, it will not go to the graveyard, so Necroskitter won't trigger. It wasn't 100% clear if you were talking about one scenario or two, so I wanted to make that point clear.
