Asked by JDChurch118 5 years ago

So nicol bolas dragon god is on the field. So is Jace cunning castaway. Nicol bolas dragon god, says it has all activated abilities of planeswalker cards on the field. For this scenario let's say nicol bolas is at 8 loyalty. If I ultimate nicol bolas dragon god, using the ultimate from Jace cunning castaways, does it create Jaces or Nicol Boli?

here is nicol bolas: https://www.mtgsalvation.com/cards/war-of-the-spark/36115-nicol-bolas-dragon-god

here is Jace: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=435212

You would get two copies of Nicol Bolas.

201.4b If an ability of an object refers to that object by name, and an object with a different name gains that ability, each instance of the first name in the gained ability that refers to the first object by name should be treated as the second name.

Don't forget that you can make a card name automatically link by putting it between a pair of [square brackets]. ie. Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God and Jace, Cunning Castaway .

Also, please do a cursory examination of the Rules Q&A before asking a question. There is currently a question in the unanswered section, but that already has answers titled "How exactly does the newest Bolas interact with Jace, the cunning Castaway's Ult?" People don't mind answering questions, but the minorest of effort on your part would go a long way. Don't be scared that the answers may be wrong on unanswered questions, the OP just hasn't selected an answer yet. Multiple people read over each question and if there is any disagreement between knowledgeable players we will discuss it. You can even stay apprised of any conversation by subscribing to the question, whether it has been answered or not.
