Asked by TheMountainLion 8 years ago

If I put a Arcane Teachings on a Spikeshot Goblin and used it's ability would both trigger or would I have to choose one to trigger?

You would have to choose one. Two totally seperate abilities

Note that these are activated abilities and not triggered. Activated are written as "cost:effect", and triggered usually start with "at", "when", or "whenever".

What Arcane Teachings does is add an ability to the enchanted creature that allows it to tap to deal damage. Tapping is the cost to use that ability. The goblin has a similar ability that requires you to pay red and tap for the cost.

You must pay costs for effects separately. You can't use the cost you paid for one effect to pay for another effect. That would sort of be like tapping mana for a spell and then using that same mana to cast another spell at the same time. Obviously in this case it becomes clearer that costs have to be met separately.

Hope that helps.
