How does Goblin Rabblemaster attacking into a Circle of Flame work?

Asked by TheAshenKnight 9 years ago

I was tinkering around a bit with a control deck I'd like to make for standard and I began to consider Circle of Flame for the sideboard. However, I also realized that I had no idea how it interacts with Goblin Rabblemaster

My question is this: Does Goblin Rabblemaster get the +1/+0 from the goblins he creates if they die to Circle of Flame? Both trigger upon declaring attackers, but which enters the stack first? Or am I completely looking at this wrong?

Thank you!

Goblin Rabblemaster will get the +X/+0 because even though the Tokens will die, they still attacked.

@JWiley129: That's incorrect.

Goblin Rabblemaster's ability counts the number of other attacking Goblins you control when the ability itself resolves.

When you declare your attackers, Goblin Rabblemaster's last ability and Circle of Flame's ability trigger. Because you are the active player, Goblin Rabblemaster's ability is put onto the stack first, then Circle of Flame's ability is put onto the stack above it. Circle of Flame's ability will resolve first, killing the token(s), and then Goblin Rabblemaster's ability will resolve and count your remaining Goblin attackers.

Thank you for the clarification! I wasn't aware that active player triggers entered the stack first.
