How does Gilt-Leaf Archdruid interact with Landfall abilities?

Asked by Aerris 8 years ago

Specifically, would Gilt-Leaf Archdruid's triggered ability of taking an opponent's lands cause Landfall abilities to trigger?

For example: If I have a Grove Rumbler on my battlefield and I trigger Gilt-Leaf Archdruid's ability to take my opponent's 5 lands, would the Rumbler's Landfall ability trigger 5 times and cause it to gain +10/+10?

My question is stemming from Landfall abilities being worded as "whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control..." The lands that are coming under my control are already on the battlefield, thus my uncertainty.

Taking control of a land that's already on the battlefield won't have that land re-enter the battlefield, just change it's controller - you're not getting any Landfall triggers.

Gilt-Leaf Archdruid's second ability is an activated ability, not a triggered one.

Activated abilities are manually activated. Triggered abilities trigger when their conditions are met.

An "enters the battlefield" ability indicates a zone change: the object must have been in another zone and must now be entering the battlefield from that outside zone. If it's already on the battlefield, then it isn't changing zones.

@Epochalyptik

Thank you for the clarification. And yeah, still learning the proper jargon.

And thank you both for the responses!
