Harsh mentor and crewing vehicles

New player and needing to know how Harsh Mentor interacts with the crewing of vehicles:
Ruling on harsh mentor:
4/18/2017 Activated abilities contain a colon. Theyre generally written [Cost]: [Effect]. Some keyword abilities (such as equip) are activated abilities and will have colons in their reminder text. An activated mana ability is one that produces mana as it resolves, not one that costs mana to activate. Notably, exerting a creature isnt an activated ability.
Is crewing a vehicles considered an activated ability? From what I read prior to this ruling it seemed that is it was...but now not so sure since the text doesn't include a colon.......

There is a colon in the reminder text.
