Flicker with Whip of Erebos?

Asked by sk00kes 9 years ago

Scenario, i have Skybind on board, i use Whip of Erebos ability to bring out a Siege Rhino. I play an enchantment, off the constellation trigger i target Rhino.

So the Rhino is exiled now, does it come back as per the Skybind or is it just gone from the Whip. If it comes back from the Skybind do i get to stack it where i can keep the Rhino and ignore the Whip at the beginning of the end step?

What happens is:

  • You exile the Siege Rhino, the replacement effect from the Whip sees that it is going to exile and will not change the zone it goes to.

  • The delayed trigger from Skybind finds the Siege Rhino card in exile, where it expected it to be.

  • Siege Rhino enters the battlefield as a new permanent with no memory of the permanent that was returned with Whip of Erebos and as such remains on the battlefield after EOT.

So yes it returns. Technically you can't stack the triggers so that you keep it, but that is because the Whip trigger never happens so you get to keep the Rhino without havig to stack anything correctly.
