Firecat Blitz + Dragonshift

Asked by ChiefBell 9 years ago

What happens here?

Can you arrange it so that at the end of turn the Firecat Blitz triggers (is that the right word?) first and then Dragonshift .

Therefore the blitz checks for 1/1 tokens (there are none and so nothing is removed) and then the tokens turn from dragons back into cats.

All Dragonshift does is change the characteristics of the card until the end of turn, it has no delayed trigger.

What the wording on Firecat Blitz really means is "Put X objects into play and then exile those objects at the end of turn". It doesn't matter what they are called, have changed into, or any other change - they are still those same exact objects so they will be exiled.

Oh really? I thought if a card made reference to that creature (for example) being exiled but then you changed it to a different creature then it wouldn't exile. Maybe it depends on the wording?

Can I leave this open for a bit? I'm not sure I fully understand the nuances of this yet.

If it read something like "Exile all Cats you control at end of turn" changing them into dragons would save them. But instead it just says.

"Put X 1/1 red Elemental Cat creature tokens with haste onto the battlefield. Exile them at the beginning of the next end step."

"Them" in this case being "The creatures which were put onto the battlefield by this spell."

It knows what they are even if they change characteristics, as long as they haven't left the battlefield.
