Fblthp Pod?

Asked by TheGameMaster85 5 years ago

So if I cast Fblthp, the Lost and then Eldritch Evolution targeting Fblthp what happens exactly? And is the same for Norin the Wary ?

Nothing out of the ordinary, because Eldritch Evolution doesn’t “Target” the creature you sacrifice, but is an “additional cost” to casting the spell in the first place.. Same goes for Norin..

You could sacrifice a token to fetch Fblthp to draw two cards, because he came from your Library.. Not sure why you would do this, but it’s an option..

For some reason I was reading Fblthp, the Lost like Norin the Wary . But if I cast Eldritch Evolution and try and sac Norin the Wary does it fizzle?

Oh well shit if the same goes for both then I guess thats kinda sad. Was hoping you could get the additional creature and still keep the saced card. Thats disappointing

If you’re wanting to run fblthp I’d put him into a blue green legend coco deck. You could even play Kamahl's Druidic Vow with it. If you splash red you can play Bloodbraid Elf

In the future, if you have a question about rules, cards, or card interactions, please use the Rules Q&A section. It has some added functionality, including the ability to “mark as answer” an accepted post. I have gone ahead and moved the post for you.

If you do not have any follow-up questions, please be sure to choose an accepted answer above.

I got the feeling there was still a little bit of missing information about the interactions here so let me add that "additional cost to cast Eld-Evolution" in the case of Norin and Fblthp means you can't cast it unless you sacrifice a creature and that sacrifice is considered paying a cost, so it doesn't use the stack. On top of that even if that wasn't the case you can't cast the spell without sacrifing the creature and once you cast it, the creature is already sacrificed to pay for the cost and in the case of Norin, he can't see the spell being cast, in order to get exiled and net you extra value, or in the case of Fblthp to get shuffled in the library.

P.S. I red what i wrote and it didn't feel clear enough. The jist is you sacrifice the creature to pay for the spell and once the spell is actually cast the fodder creature is dead and can't get exiled or shuffled. Cheers!

In the future, please remember to hit the "Mark as Answer" button to indicate your question has been resolved and you have no follow-up questions. This keeps the Rules Q&A section clutter-free and helps future users quickly identify the correct answer. Since this question has been answered for several days without any subsequent questions, I've gone ahead and marked an answer accepted.
