Ensoul Artifact + Haunted Plate Mail + Fated Infatuation what happens?

Asked by ginko2580 9 years ago

2 part question...

  1. if you use the Ensoul Artifact on the Haunted Plate Mail is there any way that it is gonna become a 9/9 Artifact Spirit Creature? and if so what happens when an other creature enters the battlefield on that turn, if say, I had a Haste creature enter to attack with enchanted-plate mail?

Can I cast ensnare and as a REACTION before it resolves, activate the haunted plate mail (0 CMC) ability?

  1. now what would happen if I casted Fated Infatuation on the enchanted plate mail? what would be copied?

Ensoul Artifact would make Haunted Plate Mail become a 5/5 artifact creature. As far as haste goes, it wasn't on the field when you activated Haunted Plate Mail 's ability so I think they both would attack. Not sure what you're getting at with that middle bit. Fated Infatuation would give you a normal activated Haunted Plate Mail Some one else will most likely come by and double check this, so don't start saying "told you so" right away, haha.

Ensoul Artifact and Haunted Plate Mail both have overriding effects for strength and toughness, meaning they will be applied in order. If you have a vanilla Haunted Plate Mail , activate it's 0 mana ability (making it a 4/4), then enchant it with Ensoul Artifact , the latter will override it, making it a 5/5. For explanation purposes, if you would do it the other way round (note that you can't do it, because at that time, Haunted Plate Mail will be a creature, preventing you from activating it's own ability), it would be a 4/4, because that was the later override effect.

If you activate the 0 mana ability on Haunted Plate Mail , then cast a creature with haste, they can both attack. Note that summoning sickness will apply to Haunted Plate Mail if it entered the battlefield the same turn. Also, while Ensoul Artifact (which I assume you mean by "ensnare") is on the stack, you may activate abilities in response that don't state otherwise (meaning in this case, you can activate the 0-mana ability, but not the Equip ability, because you can only Equip as a sorcery). Haunted Plate Mail at this time will not be a creature yet, so it's legal for you to do so.

Fated Infatuation would give you a non-activated Haunted Plate Mail . You will also get to Scry 2 if it's your turn (just mentioning this, because everyone forgets :) ).

knew I shouldn't have put in the "haste creature attacking" bit...

if haunted is OTB, then I cast the ensnare to it (there is time for reactions to my spell cast, a counter spell/ an ability / whatever) could I not use my own abitlity on plate mail which would resolve a 4/4 creature and then the ensnare would resolve and make a 9/9 creature?

and part I am really curious on .... is the Fated Infatuation what can be copied if any thing?

When I said I didn't know what you were getting at I meant with this "Can I cast ensnare and as a REACTION before it resolves, activate the haunted plate mail (0 CMC) ability?" It would NOT make a 9/9. Ensoul Artifact causes something to have a BASE power/toughness of 5/5
