Energy Field and Rest in Peace make me pretty invulnerable right?

Asked by hyena69 8 years ago

Energy Field and Rest in Peace means that no cards go to the graveyard due to RIPs replacement effect, which means that the energy fields sac effect won't trigger, right? Or have I missed something...

Yes, Rest in Peace's replacement effect means no card ever enters your graveyard. So Energy Field's second ability never triggers.

Well it prevents all damage to you.

You can still suffer from loss of life, running out of library, and anything that destroys either card.

All damage from opponent's sources will be prevented, and Energy Field will never have to be sacrificed from it's own triggered ability as long as Rest in Peace is in play.

However - and I'm mentioning this because you seem to be worried about losing the Energy Field - a single Erase or the like will disrupt your plans here, and since it can be cast after declaring blockers, I wouldn't feel very safe with this combination alone...

I'm pretty sure this is the basis of a legacy pillowfort/control deck.

Keep in mind also that anything that says damage can't be prevented will stop this from working.
