Elspeth, Sun's Champion Question

so with Elspeth, Sun's Champion's -3, Does it check what the power says on your card or what the power currently is from until end of turn effects such as Eye Gouge?

The only time the printed power on a card matters is if you are cloning a creature or it isn't on the battlefield. When the creature is on the battlefield its power is the printed power +/- the effects that are currently modifying it.

For exampel if your opponent has a Siege Rhino and you -3 Elspeht and they respond with Bile Blight on the Siege Rhino it will ont die because its power is 1.

I am fairly certain it checks what the power currently is.

So if your opponent Eye Gouges their own 4 power creature in response to you activating Elspeth's ability, their creature will survive.

thank you both, thats what I assumed.. my question was more about trying to keep my creature alive while killing theirs but it will work either way. thx
