Eerie Interlude + Anafenza

Asked by Mental_diarrhea 7 years ago

Ive been tryin to look around for an answear but couldnt soo yeah:

Havin Anafenza in the battlefield, plus another 3 random creatures ( lets say, three 1/1 spirits ), what will happen when i use Eerie Interlude on all of them ?

Will all of them enter the battlefield at the same time in the end of the turn ? Will it bolster ? It just keeps my head confused.

Thanks in advance. And sorry for the sloppy english.

You choose what order they re enter. So you would probably want Anafenza first, then each creature will bolster upon entry.

Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit + Eerie Interlude

Yes all creatures will technically enter at the same time but you choose the order they enter. Note however in your example, three 1/1 Spirit tokens would not reenter. If you ever exile a token from play, even if only temporarily, it simply vanishes.

Now if you had Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit and three Inquisitor's Ox, they would all enter the battlefield at the same time, but to do what you are trying to do you would declare that the Anafenza is coming in first.

They all enter at the same time in the idea that your opponent can't respond in between creatures entering the battlefield. They all come down before priority is passed. You choose how they reenter in that you make sure Anafenza comes down "first" so that you can get your three bolster triggers.

@TMBRLZ: That's not quite how it works. Your answer contradicts itself.

Eerie Interlude doesn't specify that the creatures return in a specific order, so they return simultaneously. You don't declare any "order" in which the creatures enter—that would mean they don't enter simultaneously. You can't have creatures enter at the same time and also have one enter first.

The reason this interaction actually works is that multiple permanents entering or leaving the battlefield simultaneously will all "see" each other permanent entering/leaving alongside them. If Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit enters the battlefield simultaneously with three other creatures, then Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit's ability will trigger for each of those other creatures.

Now, as TMBRLZ said, tokens that leave the battlefield remain in their new zone and cease to exist the next time state-based actions are performed. Note also that Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit's ability specifically says "nontoken creature," so the tokens wouldn't trigger the ability anyway.

Thank you so much Epochalyptik, and sorry for the mistakes, im new here !Just one more thing, the card says that the creatures return to the btfld at the end of any end step ? Both mine and my opponent end step ? Im so sorry, i came back to magic and im rusty, didnt played for 10 years.

It says "the next end step," which means whatever end step the game comes to next. If you cast Eerie Interlude on your turn, the next end step will likely be your own.

I understand the contradiction in what I said, and I understand how my answer as spoken wasn't technically accurate, but I was trying to make it more laymen's. Apologies if it only caused further confusion.

Telling people there's a fake order of entry generally is less overwhelming than saying EVERYTHING HAPPENS AT THE SAME TIME when they have limited knowledge of the stack.

Thank you for clarifying though Epoch.

Of "you choose the order they enter" and "you choose the order of the triggers", it doesn't seem like either one would be any more or less "overwhelming" than the other to a player with limited rules knowledge. The only real difference between the two explanations is that one of them is actually correct, so you might as well go with that one.
