If I am casting Earthen Arms for its awaken cost, can I use the mana abilities of Beastcaller Savant to help pay for its cmc since it is becoming a creature?

No. A creature spell is a card or copy of a card on the stack that has the type "creature." Earthen Arms is a sorcery spell.
