Dungeon Geists

Asked by Wyrbak 7 years ago

I put out my Dungeon Geists, tap target creature, all is well. I use a Essence Flux to bounce the geists out and back in tapping another creature. Now are BOTH creatures unable to untap or is it just the more resent creature?

Just the more recent one.

Dungeon Geists's ability has a duration: "for as long as you control Dungeon Geists. As soon as control of Dungeon Geists changes, or as soon as Dungeon Geists leaves the battlefield, the effect's duration expires.

In this case, we'll say the first creature you tap is C1 and the second is C2. DG = Dungeon Geists.

When DG enters the battlefield for the first time, its ability triggers. You target C1, which becomes tapped when the ability resolves and remains tapped for as long as you control DG.

When you blink DG, the effect on C1 ends immediately. As DG reenters the battlefield, you target C2. When the ability resolves, C2 will be tapped.

Only the one you tapped as it came in from the Essence Flux

When a creature leaves the battlefield and re-enters, it is a new object and has no relation to any previous iteration of itself. The creature that was tapped from the first time Dungeon Geists entered the battlefield will now be able to untap, but the creature you chose the second time it entered will not.

Only the more resent creature. Dungeon Geists doesn't "remember" it has been in game earlier. It's completely new object after Essence Flux.
