Dual Nature and copying tokens

Asked by acbooster 7 years ago

I'm working on a token deck right now and was looking at cards that could net me tokens of my regular creatures and came across Dual Nature. Reading through its abilities, I noticed something about its third one.

Say I have Dual Nature out and have several creatures with token copies. My opponent casts Naturalize targeting the Dual Nature, and in response I cast Second Harvest. It all resolves, do I keep the tokens made with Second Harvest and lose the ones made with Dual Nature?

You keep the tokens from Second Harvest. The final ability of Dual Nature states that only the tokens created from IT will be exiled. If you opponent kills any of your nontoken creatures, though, your Second Harvest tokens would be exiled.

Actually, wouldn't the Second Harvest tokens stay anyhow if Dual Nature has left the battlefield?

Yes, they would. I was just noting that the second ability would still affect the tokens.

Only for as long as Dual Nature is on the battlefield, anyway. Once Dual Nature leaves the battlefield, none of its abilities apply anymore, so losing one of your nontoken creatures won't exile your tokens of the same name.
