Double Planeswalkers
Asked by IDontMakeSense 8 years ago
So when I cast a second Liliana Planeswalker, is the rule that I sacrifice one, or destroy one?

Note: This is a result of State Based Actions, so between the time of resolving a second Liliana and putting one of the two Liliana's into your graveyard, no player (including yourself) may activate any abilities or cast any spells.

If you are talking about Liliana Vess, Liliana of the Dark Realms or Liliana of the Veil, when you cast a second copy and it resolves, you choose one of them and put the rest into your graveyard, according to this rule:
306.4. If a player controls two or more planeswalkers that share a planeswalker type, that player chooses one of them, and the rest are put into their owners graveyards. This is called the planeswalker uniqueness rule.
Note this doesn't mean "sacrifice" or "destroy" the planeswalker.
If you are talking about Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip, when the first you have in play is already a planeswalker and the second resolves, it will remain in game, because planeswalkers and legendary creatures aren't the same thing.
