Does Sinister Possession kill you before you kill your opponent?

So, in a game where both players have 1 life left, and player 1 has a creature that is enchanted by Sinister Possession and that creature then attacks player 2 who would then be killed by the creature. But then Sinister Possession also kills player 1. Who dies first?

Sinister Possession triggers in this case during the 'declare attackers' step, which is well before combat damage is even a thing to think about. That trigger will resolve and the controller of the creature with Sinister Possession will lose 2 life, losing the game before blockers are declared, or damage is assigned, let alone dealt.
