Does Runed Halo Targets?

Asked by Piccoli_ 4 years ago

Hi everyone, ive been searching all over internet but i cant find any rule that says if runed halo targets a creature when you say the name of that creature. Maybe its because its really obvious but i really dont know. For Example, can i name Slippery Bogle with Runed Halo? Thx!!

No, Runed Halo doesn't target anything. So you can name Slippery Bogle with it.

If the card doesn't use the actual word "target", it doesn't target.

There are exceptions to what xtechnetia said about things only target if the card says target. Aura spells target while on the stack, and the equip abilities of equipment also targets the creature you are attaching it to. Neither of these always say target unless reminder text is used on the card, as the rules for these say they target.

course to make that extra confusing so long as the aura spell isn't being cast but brought into play by an effect it then doesn't target, for example thanks to a Sun Titan trigger you can put a Pacifism from your graveyard onto an opponent's Slippery Bogle .

Course in before we get the "this post is being moved to the Q&A because it fits better into that section."

Runed Halo does not target. Additionally, you can name any card with it not just ones in play which wouldn’t be possible if it needed a target.

Demarge's prediction has come to fruition - I am moving this over to Q&A for the reasons I mentioned on your other Runed Halo based thread. Based on your creation of a new thread, I am assuming you got your answer from this one, so I chose an accepted answer in addition to moving this.
