Does Kruphix God of Horizons last ability create mana for old mana?

Asked by ChemoorVodka 6 years ago

So I get that Kruphix, God of Horizons last ability makes leftover mana convert to colorless instead of empty out, but does that mana converting technically count as the colorless mana entering your mana pool and the colored mana leaving your mana pool?I am unsure if this difference would matter for any current cards but I was wondering.

The mana in your pool stays in it and is simply transformed.

It is a replacement ability. Instead of mana emptying from your pool, it does not, but becomes colorless instead. there are no cards I can think of that this has any interaction with, but it does not count as new mana entering your mana pool.

Alright thanks, I was wondering since every other mana converter I can think of (like Prophetic Prism) has you pay one mana to get one mana instead of converting.

I would imagine that that's mostly just due to how awkward the templating would be for an effect like ": Choose a mana in your mana pool. It becomes the color of your choice." Even lore-wise, most conversion seem to work by absorbing the mana into them, and then channeling it outward as "new" mana.
