Does Haste still apply when transforming?

Asked by ErebusX 8 years ago

Lets say I have a Vildin-Pack Alpha  Flip on the battlefield. Next turn I cast a Geier Reach Bandit  Flip, who has haste. Now as I'm understanding it, Geier Reach Bandit can be transformed immediately into a second Vildin-Pack Alpha 'after it enters the battlefield', as per Vildin-Pack Alpha's ability. As it previously had haste as it entered the battlefield, does that mean it is clear of the 'summoning sickness' status effect or does it regain summoning sickness as it transforms and loses haste?

It still has "summoning sickness".

The "summoning sickness" rule applies to any creature that you haven't controlled continuously since the beginning of your most recent turn (including the current one). The only way to be exempt from the rule is to have haste. In your example the newly transformed Vildin-Pack Alpha  Flip doesn't have haste. The fact that it used to have haste earlier in the turn doesn't matter.
