Does equipping a creature count towards storm?

Equip as a sorcery-- does this just mean speedwise, or will it add to the storm count? So say using a Lightning Greaves on multiple creatures to build the storm count to a crazy amount, then casting Brain Freeze or Grapeshot to either wipe out a library or ping them 100 times.

It just refers to when you can activate the ability - on your main phase when the stack is empty - equipping doesn't interact with storm in any way.
