Does Eerie Interlude protect blockers/prevent damage?

Asked by Darthagnon 7 years ago

For example: I block a vanilla 5/5 with a vanilla 1/1. Before combat damage is dealt, I cast Eerie Interlude, targeting my 1/1. This allows my 1/1 to survive. Question: Do I take 5 damage? Note that I declared a blocker for the 5/5, then exiled my blocker (to return later).

Many thanks!

When a creature is declared as blocked, it remains blocked for the rest of combat. Unless the 5/5 were to have Trample, you wouldn't take any damage from it if you block with your 1/1 and then exile your 1/1 with Eerie Interlude.
