Does Bonfire of the Damned target planeswalkers?

306.7. If noncombat damage would be dealt to a player by a source controlled by an opponent, that opponent may have that source deal that damage to a planeswalker the first player controls instead. This is a redirection effect (see rule 614.9) and is subject to the normal rules for ordering replacement effects (see rule 616). The opponent chooses whether to redirect the damage as the redirection effect is applied.

I should've said ...

Targeting doesn't matter, so something like Earthquake could be redirected in the same way.

To answer your question directly, Bonfire of the Damned does not target players. Ever. Planeswalkers are not players, so spells that target players may not target planeswalkers unless they specify that they may; in order for a burn spell to damage a planeswalker you must apply a redirection effect.
That being said, you may choose to redirect the damage Bonfire of the Damned would do to a targeted opponent to a planeswalker that player controls instead. You may not deal damage to both the targeted player and a planeswalker he or she controls - if you redirect the X damage from the player to the planeswalker you must deal all X of that damage to the planeswalker.

I think Epochalyptik meant Bonfire of the Damned never targets planeswalkers.
As has been said here you may redirect the damage from Bonfire of the Damned to the planeswalker. So it will deal damage to the planeswalker and all the creatures the player controls, but no damage to the player (if you choose to redirect it).

Since Bonfire of the Damned deals non combat damage to a player, you (Bonfire's controller I assume) may choose to redirect that damage to a planeswalker your opponent controls.
