Does a Magmasaur that has lifelink bring in life?

If you grant a Magmasaur lifelink, using, for example, Whip of Erebos, will it heal it's controller for the total damage dealt by it when using its sacrifice ability. My understanding is that lifelink works as follows:

119.3f Damage dealt by a source with lifelink causes that sources controller to gain that much life,in addition to the damages other results.

Magmasaur's sacrifice rules are as follows:

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may remove a +1/+1 counter from Magmasaur. If you don't, sacrifice Magmasaur and it deals damage equal to the number of +1/+1 counters on it to each creature without flying and each player.

Since the card specifically says "it deals damage," implying that the magmasaur is the source of the damage and the source of the lifelink keyword ability, here being Whip of Erebos doesn't go to the graveyard with the Magmasaur, it should heal its controller for YX damage, where x is the number of +1/+1 counters on it and Y is the number of players plus the number of creatures without flying.

This works, although it would also still work if the source of the lifelink was destroyed at the same time Magmasaur died.

When the game requires information about something that has left the battlefield, it uses that permanent's last known information, which is the state in which it last existed on the battlefield. Magmasaur's LKI gives you both the number of counters and the fact that it had lifelink when it died, so you'll deal the damage accordingly and it will be lifelink damage.

You will gain life equal to the number of counters times the number of creatures and players it deals damage to. You will still take damage from it, but it will be nullified by the lifelink.
