Does a liquimetal-coated permanent lose its ensoulement at the end of the turn?

Asked by AdrianMagic 6 years ago

I'm trying to build a deck based on [Liquimetal Coating] and thought of maybe pairing it with [Ensoul artifact].

That way, I get to chose which permanent becomes an artifact and then transform it into a 5/5 creature in one turn.

However, since the permanent loses its artifact nature at the end of the turn, will it lose its 'ensoulement' as well?

Yes, it would lose the aura.

Remember to use double brackets to link cards, single brackets do not work.

Liquimetal Coating
Ensoul Artifact

Your permanent will lose the aura. This is because Auras are always checking to see if they're on a permanent or player they're allowed to be on. If a permanent becomes illegal (by gaining/losing types or colors) then the Aura falls off the next time state-based actions are checked.
