Do you control permanents AFTER they die but BEFORE they are put into the graveyard?

For example... say I have an Arcbound Ravager with 2 +1/+1 counters, and a Master Transmuter out on the field.

Then my Arcbound Ravager dies. Can I move the +1/+1 counters onto another creature and then activate Master Transmuter's ability to return it to my hand?

No. In magic the word "dies" literally means "is put into it's owner's graveyard from the battlefield." There's no point between when something dies and when it's in your graveyard because they're the same thing. The reminder text is a little confusing in this case, but Arcbound Ravager is actually in your graveyard before the ability that that's going to "move" the counters on it even goes on the stack.

A good example of how dies is synonymous wit being put in the graveyard is the fact that Rest in Peace keeps all "dies" triggers from ever happening.
