Asked by AJtheConquerer 10 years ago

pretty much what the question is asking. Do tokens, like the ones from Assemble the Legion have a CMC of zero?

Not all tokens have aCMC of 0 though, for instance, Progenitor Mimic tokens copy the CMC of the card

Unless they are copies of existing creatures, then they have a CMC of 0. If you cast Cackling Counterpart copying a Master of Waves , then the token's CMC will be 4. Tokens from Assemble the Legion do not have a mana cost.

Some tokens do have a CMC though. Tokens that are a copy of an actual creature card have the same CMC as the original. This is why Pack Rat is played in the Mono-black devotion decks that are making it to Top 8 in PTs and GPs.

also, would Clone 's CMC and the copied cards CMC both count? say if i copy a Nightveil Specter would the blue devotion be equal to both the Clone and the Nightveil Specter , being four? or just the three?

Clone copies the card exactly. It will retain none of its original abilities, color, CMC, power and toughness, artist, set, ect.

I should say Clone retains none of the original Clone 's abilities, color, CMC, power and toughness, artist, set, ect. and becomes an exact replica of Nightveil Specter .

@GoldGhost012

As of M14, expansion/set is no longer a copiable value. Artist never has been.

Yes, I know. I was just listing things that appeared on the card.
