Do the 4/4 land creatures crested by Nissa retain their basic land type?

I have a modern treefolk deck which includes the card Timber Protector to make my forests indestructible

If I use Nissa, Worldwaker to turn the forests into elementals do they lose their basic land type and therefore their indestructibleness/indestrucitbility

The lands become Elementals that are still lands. They retain their original land types.
