Deflecting Double strike

Asked by cr14mson 9 years ago

What happens when I cast Deflecting Palm on my opponent's Fabled Hero ? Does he receive 4 or 8 damage?

4, a double striking creature, deals damage two seperate times, so you may only "deflect" 1 of those times.

Double strike means the creature deals damage in two separate damage steps. Because Deflecting Palm prevents only the next instance of damage, it will prevent damage in one of those two steps. Damage dealt in the other combat damage step will be dealt normally. You'll end up redirecting 2 and taking 2 in separate instances.

In no case would 8 total damage be involved. Fabled Hero is only a 2/2.

So... he would only receive 2 damage. Unless the Hero is pumped somehow.

2 damage. The Deflecting Palm says that the next time a source would deal damage. So it would just deflect the damage from the first strike step of the combat phase.

sorry, I assumed that the fabled hero was pumped to 4, but that might not of been the case.
