Decimate Targetting Order

Asked by CheeseBro 8 years ago

If i control an Ezuri, Claw of Progress with Swiftfoot Boots equipped, can my opponent cast Decimate on the boots and Ezuri? I wasn't sure since decimate names artifact first, before creature.

It doesn't matter what order they're named in. Swiftfoot Boots is equipped at the time that targets must be declared. Your opponent can't target Ezuri.

Something worth knowing:

A card like this does everything from the top down (Or left to right, in this case), it'll all happen very fast, but not simultaneously.

If something like Stasis Snare (exiling Avacyn, Angel of Hope or something of that nature) was targeted and destroyed, Avacyn, Angel of Hope would immediately return to play and the land that was targeted would not be destroyed due to it now being indestructible.

@Raging_Squiggle: You're thinking of something like Austere Command, where the destruction events are given as separate instructions. Decimate doesn't work that way. Everything is destroyed at the same time.

Oh, they were close though. Lol. Figured it was same interaction. This scenario happened to me but with Austere Command which is why it worked like that.
