Darksteel Mutation on a general

Asked by Ziggy101 7 years ago

If I cast Darksteel Mutation on my opponents general in EDH, does that enchanted general go back to the command zone because of this?

I think I saw this happen in a MTGO stream.

Thanks

No it couldn't go back to the command zone because of Darksteel Mutation. Did the player whose general it was played on have a sacrifice outlet of some sort? They could sacrifice it or destroy their own general to send it back to the command zone in response if they had a way to do so. Otherwise it becomes an indestructible 0/1 and stays as such on the battlefield until they find a way to deal with the aura; sacrifice the general; or the general is otherwise killed.

I saw now, the opponent had a Doomwake Giant that's why his commander died. Thanks
