Commanders and Epic ability cards

My friend and I want to know if you can play your commander after an Epic ability is in play, such as Enduring Ideal

No, you can't. After a card with the Epic ability resolves, you cannot cast any spells for the rest of the game. This includes your Commander as you cast him as a spell, just like any other non-land card.
