Chromium, the Mutable + Silverblade Paladin

Asked by Warxuaroz 5 years ago

Does Chromium have double strike after using its ability that gives it hexproof if it's paired with the Paladin?

Yes. The Chromium, the Mutable is still the same object, so it's still Soulbound to the Silverblade Paladin.

Also, note that Soulbond does not target, so Hexproof and Shroud do not interact with your ability to Soulbond a creature.

I was thinking more of the line '...loses all abilities...' I wonder if it loses double strike as well.

Ah, serves me right for going off memory and not re-reading Chromium's text.

Chromium will lose double strike. The Soulbond and loses ability effects are both continuous effects that happen in the same layer--specifically layer 6, Ability-adding, ability-removing effects. Layers work where the last one in is the one to apply.

So, the Soulbound effect was the first one in, and will be temporally replaced by Chromium's lose all abilities effect. Once that ability wears off, the soulbound ability will be the only item in that layer, and Chromium will have double strike once more.

Also worth noting that Silverblade Paladin still has doublestrike as its still paired, it's only it's partner that lost it.
