Chandra and Harness the Storm

Asked by Chae2010 7 years ago

I have Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip and Harness the Storm on the field, and 2 Shock in my grave. Am I able to tap Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip to deal one damage, cast a Shock from my hand which in turn untaps her, Then use the recasts from the grave to untap her 2 more times and tap for her to deal a total of 3 and transform. Or does the stack prohibit that?

Totally fine and you only need 1 shock in the graveyard, rather than 2. With the sequence you suggested, Chandra would deal 4 damage.

How does Chandra deal 4? Harness only triggers when you cast form the hand.

Chandra will deal at most 3 damage. Harness the Storm only lets you cast 1 target spell from your graveyard, not every spell with the same name.

She will still deal enough damage to transform, but it won't be 4 damage. And you'll only cast 2 Shocks: the one in your hand, and one in your graveyard.

Misread the Harness the Storm (I thought it gave cards something like flashback, which would be cool, but it is not).

So, yes, the sequence totals out to 3 Chandra damage, but that is still enough to flip her.

Ok thanks a lot. I didn't see how she would have dealt 4 but as long as the ability works and does 3 how I thought it would, I'm good. Thanks again.

The misunderstanding was you would've cast both shocks in your graveyard, for a total of 3 red spells, allowing Chandra to untap 3 times. If she was untapped when you started, she would've dealt a total of 4 damage. But this is incorrect, because Harness the Storm only lets you cast 1 card from your graveyard.
