casting and ETB

I have Path of Ancestry in play and pay for Civic Wayfinder (My edh general is an elf). do i scry before wayfinders etb trigger or after, or can I stack them so the desired order happens.

Path of Ancestry is a cast ability, so it goes on the stack above the Wayfinder and resolves before he does. Then the wayfinder resolves, and then the ETB triggers.

He's right. But if you do ever have two abilities that would happen at the same time you can order them as you choose.
